Membership is based on a calendar year and runs from January 1 - December 31*. You may join at any time during the year to begin receiving AUTM benefits. Memberships are non-transferable.

Applicants for student membership must attach proof of status; i.e., letter from advisor. A person who is a full-time student or fellow in an institution of higher education, or a resident in a resident-training program at a teaching hospital, whose educational experience involves activities relating either directly or indirectly to the administration of the institution’s intellectual property.
Available to individuals who reside or work in developing economies, electronic membership allows technology transfer practitioners to access all members’ only areas of the AUTM Web site, participate in AUTM committees, special interest groups, and join in other volunteer opportunities, and receive the AUTM eUpdate and regular email announcements about upcoming AUTM events and other industry activities and initiatives. Electronic membership does not provide member discounts to AUTM events such as the annual meeting, professional development courses, regional meetings or distance learning programs. Additionally, electronic members will pay non-member pricing for services and items provided for a fee by AUTM, including but not limited to publications, job posting services and other services and products listed in the Marketplace section of the AUTM Web site. Emeritus Membership in the Association for University Technology Managers is an honor. It recognizes distinguished service, professional achievements and meritorious contributions to the technology transfer profession. AUTM members may request, or be nominated for Emeritus Member status. To be eligible for emeritus membership the member must be retired from full-time employment and have been a member in good standing for at least 15 years. Members Emeritus: a) shall be entitled to one vote, in person or by written proxy, at all meetings of the membership; b) shall be eligible to serve on any committee as a voting member of the committee; c) shall be eligible to vote on motions proposed in regular and special Association meetings or in any election of Board of Trustee Members; d) shall be eligible to serve on the Board of Trustees; and e) shall not pay dues. Emeritus membership shall be awarded for the life of the member. Request an Emeritus Member application.
* All memberships are due for renewal as of October 1 of each year.
